Auto DM Studio requires a Facebook Business Page to connect Facebook Messenger automations and access Meta’s messaging features.
If you’re currently using a personal Facebook profile, you’ll need to create or manage a Facebook Business Page before connecting Auto DM Studio. You do not need a “registered business” to have your Facebook page type set to business.
What Is a Facebook Business Page? #
A Facebook Business Page represents a business, brand, organization, creator, or public figure. Unlike personal profiles, Business Pages can:
- Connect to Meta Business Manager
- Use Facebook Messenger APIs
- Connect to Instagram Business accounts
- Access Meta developer tools
- Work with Auto DM Studio
Step 1: Log In to Facebook #
On your computer, sign in to the Facebook account that will manage your Business Page.
Step 2: Create a Facebook Page #
If you don’t already have a separate page for your site, you will need to create one (you cannot convert your personal profile to a business page). Skip to step 4 if you already have a page.
- Click your profile picture in the top-right corner of Facebook.
- Select See All Profiles.
- Click Create New Page.
- Enter your Page Name.
- Choose a Page Category that best describes your business.
- Add an optional bio or description.
- Click Create Page.
Step 3: Complete Your Page Information #
After creating your Page, consider adding:
- Profile picture
- Cover image
- Business description
- Website URL
- Contact information
While not required for Auto DM Studio, completing your profile helps establish credibility with your audience.
Step 4: Set your page type to “Business” #
- Within Facebook: Change into your business page (or the page you just created) by clicking your profile icon on the top right of page (in the Facebook mobile app this will be on the bottom right) and selecting your page you want to link to Auto DM Studio.
- Now Click on that same profile icon again (in the Facebook mobile app you need to tap on the menu/hamburger icon on the top left) and go to Settings & Privacy → Settings
- From the left sidebar menu under Audience and visibility click on Page setup
- Click on Page type, change it to Business and click Next then Confirm.
Step 5: Verify You Can Access the Page #
To confirm you have sufficient permissions:
- If you still have the Page Setup page open skip this step, if not, on Facebook go into your business page and go to Settings & Privacy → Settings → Audience and visibility (on sidebar) and click on Page setup
- Navigate to Page Access.
- Ensure your Facebook account is listed under “People with full control“.
Auto DM Studio requires adequate permissions to connect your Facebook Page and Messenger account.
Step 6: Connect Your Facebook Page to Auto DM Studio #
Once your Business Page is ready:
- Open your WordPress dashboard.
- Navigate to Auto DM Studio → Facebook → Authenticate.
- Click on the Authenticate button.
- Follow the Meta authorization process.
- Select the Facebook Page you wish to connect.
After authorization is complete, your Page will be available for Facebook Messenger automations and you should see your Facebook status as “Connected” and Facebook messaging webhooks should say “Active”.
Frequently Asked Questions #
Can I convert my personal Facebook profile into a Business Page? #
No. Facebook personal profiles and Business Pages are separate entities. If you only have a personal profile, you’ll need to create a Business Page and manage it using your personal account.
Do I need a Facebook Business Page to use Facebook Messenger automations? #
Yes. Meta only allows Messenger automation through Facebook Pages.
Can I manage multiple Facebook Pages? #
Yes. You can have multiple Facebook Pages, but currently Auto DM Studio can only connect to one Facebook Page at a time per WordPress install. This is a feature we may be looking at adding in the future – let us know if you want it.
Do I need a Meta Business Manager account? #
In most cases, Meta will automatically guide you through any required setup during the connection process. Having a Meta Business Manager account is recommended for businesses managing multiple assets.
